    Finest wines of Toscana

    toscane

It is not uncommon to find wine estates in Tuscany that have been in family ownership for more than five centuries. Here, more than anywhere, the ancient civilisations of Italy appear to have ceded little to the passage of time. The region's ravishing countryside has attracted tourists since several centuries and the landscapes of cypress trees, ochre hills, vineyards and olive groves appear like in a painting of Renaissance.

Veneto is Italy's largest wine producing region and also its biggest producer of DOC wine. It is home to two of Italy's best known exports, Soave and Valpolicella. Vineyards hug the foothills of the Dolomites from Lake Garda across to the river Piave north of Venice. The most intense plantings encircle Verona. Valpolicella is the second most important red DOC after Chianti. The vineyards lie in a band north of Verona on limestone and granite slopes, planted with the Corvina grape.  Bardolino is similar to Valpolicella but is produced from grapes grown on a glacial moraine boarding Lake Garda. Soave DOC is quantitatively Italy's most important white wine. Prosecco has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance in popularity in recent years. There are delimited regions: Prosecco DOC which covers a wide area of the Veneto and Friuly, and the higher quality Conegliano-Valdobbiadenne DOCG area.

Arrival at Pedemonte and visit to the Stefano Accordini winery. Where you can visit the vineyards and the cellar, finally wine tasting. Light lunch at a local restaurant. Driving, on the afternoon, along the hills where you can see the different type of vineyard. We'll visit celebrated vineyards where Amarone di Valpolicella DOCG is made.
